DOGS will replace horses as the highlight at today's 151st Dapto Show.
The performing pooches, known as the Fly Ball Dogs, will bark on cue, perform synchronised running routines and jump through hoops in the main ring for the pleasure of the crowd.Dapto Show Society secretary Wayne Billett said that while it was disappointing horses could not perform due to equine influenza travelling restrictions, they had kept the show short and sweet for maximum impact. It was the first time in the show's history that horses would not appear."The absence of horses has meant that instead of running the show for two full days and nights, we are running the show for one day only," he said."We have upgraded our entertainment so that there is more happening in the main ring."We have woodchopping, wrestling, motocross, the Miss Showgirl, and the Fly Ball Dogs for the first time."The dancing dogs will appear shortly after the gates open at 11am and the day will close with a fireworks spectacular from 10.15pm.Also, on display in the show pavilion are traditional handicrafts, jams and organic produce from West Dapto farms.Tickets until 5pm cost $12 for adults and $6 for children and $30 for families.Tickets after 5pm are $15, $8 and $40.
