WHILE high-profile trainers Anthony Cummings and Mick Price will prepare a number of horses for Nathan Tinkler at Randwick and Caulfield, respectively, the man likely to be charged with the job of training as many as 140 horses for the mining magnate is Jason Coyle.

The 31-year-old, who trains about 18 horses for Tinkler's Patinack Farm at Newcastle, is expected to soon be announced as the head trainer at the new Warwick Farm stables.

Coyle, who worked for such trainers as John Size, David Payne, Gai Waterhouse and John O'Shea before taking out his own licence three years ago, said yesterday an announcement on his future was expected soon.

"We are fairly close to signing off a few things and obviously if everything goes ahead as planned, it will be a fantastic opportunity to train so many horses for Patinack Farm," Coyle said. "I've got about 18 Patinack horses here at the moment and we've had a bit of success with them."

While no announcement has been made yet, Patinack Farm has made no secret of the fact that Coyle is the preferred option for the new Warwick Farm outfit. "We are going to bring Jason Coyle down from Newcastle and he will be our main trainer," said Patinack Farm racing manager Rick Connolly. "He is a bright young trainer who we feel fits in perfectly with our plans." -- ANDREW EDDY
