ACCLAIMED horseman Neville Begg just had to buy All Silent back. The one-time Randwick trainer, who mixed it with the likes of Tommy Smith, Bart Cummings and co before spending several highly successful years preparing horses in Hong Kong, stood proud along with his wife, Yvonne, in the Flemington mounting yard yesterday.
All Silent had won just won the group 1 Emirates Stakes. Son Grahame, whose wife, Sue, was wiping back tears, took over the training operation at Randwick when his father went to Hong Kong. Brother Neil was there leading the horse around the parade ring yesterday."I bought him as yearling originally to go to Hong Kong but when he went he was probably too young," Neville Begg (pictured left) said yesterday. "Once he got up there, he wasn't happy, he laid down all day long, didn't acclimatise at all."The owners told Begg to sell the horse and he admitted to having a long think about it. "I thought, ;Let's buy him, let's take a chance.' We put blinkers on him and he is a different horse," Neville said.
