THE racetrack ability of Newton's Rings sets him apart from other horses in Jeff Englebrecht's stable, and his personality and intelligence make him a standout.
Englebrecht, who trains at Muswellbrook, has made many trips to town with Newton's Rings, which passed a milestone when he took his earnings to more than $700,000 with victory at Rosehill on Saturday. The gelding will be back as an eight-year-old on August 2 to contest the $100,000 Winter Championship final over the same 1500 metres as his most recent win. The open handicap was Newton's Rings' 20th victory from 59 starts, which have also netted 15 placings."He is a dream to train, and if he was human, he would be a professor of something," Englebrecht said. Englebrecht believes now he is older, he can be stepped up to the 1800 metres of next month's Premier's Cup at Rosehill.
