CLARENCE Town trainer-driver Alwyn Morris was disqualified yesterday for four months under harness racing rule 190, which deals with presenting horses to race when found to have contained prohibited substances.
The positive finding was the result of a blood test taken from Morris's pacer Tessada when the mare was unplaced at Newcastle on June 19. The blood was found to be positive to TCO2, which relates to the carbon dioxide level in the bloodstream. In assessing penalties, stewards took into account Morris's long-standing exemplary record in the harness racing industry that extends for more than 30 years. The suspension is effective immediately. Morris indicated he would appeal the finding.Meanwhile, stewards are likely to conclude this week their long-running inquiries into the training bona fides of Hunter horses Ducks A Flyin and Speed Chief.
